John Amann, DVM, PhD,

Veterinary Radiology

Dr. John Amann received his Ph.D. in 1971 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1976 from Cornell University.

He practiced small and large animal medicine in upstate New York and Pennsylvania for five years. In 1981, he joined the faculty at the University of Missouri Department of Veterinary Biomedical Science, where he taught small animal anatomy and neuroanatomy.

While on sabbatical in 1996, he started training in veterinary radiology at the UMC Department of Medicine and Surgery.

Upon completion of his residency training in 2000, Dr. Amann joined the radiology faculty at the University of Missouri.

In 2001, Dr. Amann joined Pet Scan Veterinary Medical Imaging in Studio City, California, as the Medical Director.

During the spring and summer quarters of 2003, Dr. Amann was a visiting clinician in the radiology section of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine.

In September of 2003, he returned to Los Angeles to work with Ann Reed, DVM, President of Reed Veterinary Radiology.

In early 2004, he joined the staff of Animal Specialty Group.

Dr. Amann resides on his sailboat in Marina Del Rey. He spends his free time at his cabin near Santa Fe, New Mexico.
