Peggy McMahon

DVM, Diplomate American College of Veterinary Emergency + Critical Care

Dr. Peggy McMahon was born and raised in the Windy City – Chicago, IL. She attended the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Integrative Physiology along with a minor in Chemistry. She worked in a molecular biology research lab at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine prior to pursing a career in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Peggy McMahon, DVM, DACVECC

After receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree with honors from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 2011, Dr. McMahon migrated to Los Angeles where she completed both a Small Animal rotating internship as well as a Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care residency at Animal Specialty and Emergency Center. Shortly after joining Animal Specialty Group’s Emergency Team in 2016, she became board certified in veterinary emergency and critical care.

Over the course of her career, Dr. McMahon has been both a teacher and a trainer, working diligently to help veterinary interns and students in their pursuit of veterinary medicine degrees. Her professional interests include transfusion medicine, trauma, respiratory disease, cardiac disease, and endocrine emergencies.

Dr. McMahon lives in Los Angeles with her dog Silas and cats ChaChi and Frim. When not in the ER, she can be found competing in triathlons and marathons, hiking, backpacking, crossfit training, cooking, volunteering and reading.
